Caption Editor

Full-time | Stanfordville, NY

You would be responsible for closed captioning pre-recorded broadcast and non-broadcast programs for the deaf and hard of hearing.

This position will be a key member of the team. We need a detail oriented, computer literate, proactive individual who can work well with others and take a lot of individual initiative and responsibility. This individual must be organized, steady in periods of high demand and consistently produce high quality work.

General Criteria: Proofreading, editing, research or writing experience required. Knowledge of the closed captioning process helpful, but not required. Spanish or French language ability a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of proper grammar and usage. Typing skills of 55+ wpm. General familiarity with MS Windows. Ability to master and utilize state-of-the-art closed captioning/subtitling software.  The maturity to complete projects under a strict deadline, with some overtime as necessary.

Educational Requirements: BA in English, Spanish, French, History, Communications, or Journalism preferred.
